For artisans in rural Bengal creating sholapith crafts, dhunuchi, or traditional jewelry, it offers significance in a quickly modernizing world.

বাঙালির দুর্গাপূজা শুধু একটা ধর্মীয় উৎসব নয় — এটি এক বিশাল সামাজিক, সাংস্কৃতিক ও অর্থনৈতিক আন্দোলন। বছরের পাঁচটি দিনের আনন্দের পেছনে লুকিয়ে থাকে হাজার হাজার মানুষের জীবনের আশা, রোজগার ও সৃষ্টির স্পন্দন।

UNESCO কর্তৃক ২০২২ সালে ‘ইনট্যানজিবল কালচারাল হেরিটেজ’ হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি পাওয়া দুর্গাপূজা আজ হাজার কোটি টাকার অর্থনীতি সৃষ্টি করে, যেখানে ৩ লক্ষের বেশি মানুষ প্রত্যক্ষ বা পরোক্ষভাবে যুক্ত থাকেন।
পূজো শুধু বড় শিল্প নয়, ক্ষুদ্র উদ্যোগ, মহিলা উদ্যোক্তা, হ্যান্ডক্রাফট ব্যবসায়ীদের জন্য এক বছরের আয়ের মূল সময়। শোলার কাজ, ধুনুচি, দড়ির টোপর থেকে শুরু করে ডিজাইনার শাড়ি, হাতের কাজ — গ্রামের শিল্পকর্ম ফিরে পায় তার গুরুত্ব।
পাড়ার পূজোয় চলে সামাজিক সংহতি ও দায়িত্ববোধের পাঠ। কোথাও রক্তদান শিবির, কোথাও চক্ষু পরীক্ষা, কোথাও আবার পরিবেশ সচেতনতা অভিযান। ধর্মীয় উৎসব এখানেই হয়ে ওঠে সামাজিক মেলবন্ধন।
এখনকার ডিজিটাল যুগেও দুর্গাপূজো নতুনভাবে রূপ নিচ্ছে। মোবাইল অ্যাপ, ভার্চুয়াল দর্শন, লাইভ আরতি, সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া ক্যাম্পেইন — এইসবের মাধ্যমে প্রযুক্তি ও ঐতিহ্য একে অপরের পরিপূরক হয়ে উঠছে।
